How do I become a commercial cooler technician?

Commercial coolers such as the ones found in liquor stores, convenience stores, 7-11, supermarkets, fast food restaurants. I want to become a person who fixes the compressors to make the cooler cool. How do I become one? Does it take long time? What if I just want to learn basic knowledge so I can learn & work on them at same time?

1. That would be a Reefer tech!! (Short for refrigeration technician). A vo-tech school is probably the best choice, and you can be certified in as little as 4 semesters!
