Is Christmas an endurance event on the Poetic calendar? Happy Holiday everyone - I am 14 hours ahead of East Coast USA so have already endured a feasting on Christmas Day - I hope you all enjoy(ed) yours. A Marathon Australian Christmas circa 2003 by Jellz Fisher 081225 (a legend to assist non-Australian readers appears below also) The calendar’s main event Is again drawing near It happens same time At the end of each year They’ve taken 12 months To train for this day They’re gathered in numbers Couldn’t keep them away They’ve come from near And they’ve come from afar By foot, bus & taxi (well, the family car) The gifts have been bought The shops are now locked The barbie’s fired up And the table’s well stocked They’re prepared and they’re eager With a head count - all here! Starters orders - and the signal The “pop” of a beer With elbows a-flying Competition is tough To get to the table Be first at the stuff It takes just a minute For order to reign For the “leaders” to load up And head off again The field is spread eagle The first lap’s complete The “leaders” are lined up For burgers and meat The esky is opened For competitors’ thirst In a moment we’ll see Who is coming in first As predicted before It’s the “number Two son” May be first to the finish To make him number One! The salads and bread Are going down fast But the turkey and ham And the chicken won’t last Lap times are slowing Though they’re not quite complete From behind comes.....the Auntie And she’s gone for a ”sweet”! Slice of Pav, bit of Mousse Pile some jelly on top Drop a dollop of cream She’ll be very hard to stop They’ve all done so well Some a “Personal Best” After this “marathon” They will all need a rest A superb day was had And the weather was kind The course was immaculate So the crowd didn’t mind A test of endurance And we’ve witnessed it here That’s all now from me See you this time next year! And it's Back to the Studio...Bob? * Local Language Legend: Barbie - Barbeque (in this setting includes a buffet table full of food) Esky - portable ice chest Sweet - dessert Pav - Pavlova - meringue pie usually topped with whipped cream and fruit
Will this 12v power inverter run this table top fan using my Cessna152's 28v DC system with 24v,14amp battery? I'm a pilot of a Cessna 152 in Texas. The aircraft does not have an air conditioner and it gets extremely hot during the Texas summers. I found this link on youtube of how to build a portable air conditioner using an ice chest, aquarium pump and table top fan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjY-8FN1myU. I have found these parts online to build the sucker but I don't know enough about volts, amps and watts to know if it will all work or not. (My airplane has a 28v DC system with 60 amp alternator and a 24v 14amp battery.) : The fan: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Honeywell+-+Table+Air+Circulator+Fan+-+Black/9643594.p?skuId=9643594&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=9643594&ref=06&loc=01&id=1218136066880 The power inverter: http://www.walmart.com/ip/XOvision-350W-Power-Inverter-with-2-AC-Outlets-XO420/11063326#ProductDetail The submersible aquarium pump: http://cgi.ebay.com/Fountain-Aquarium-Garden-92GPH-Submersible-Pump-Water_W0QQitemZ350338162046QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5191c81d7e#ht_2180wt_1165 If this system will not work, what type of equipment would I need to look for so that it does work? Thank you very much in advance for your help!
Trouble-shooting a portable compact refrigerator that won't get cold enough? My compact portable outdoor refrigerator turns on (I can hear it when plugged in), gets mildly cool, but doesn't reach anywhere near the temperature is should be reaching (even on the coldest setting). Last summer the refrigerator worked like a charm (drinks were iced after a few hours). It's an outdoor refrigerator, therefore I left it outdoors over the freezing winter in NJ (maybe my mistake). When I switched it on again this year (after about 8 months), it is "behaving" in the manner that I described above. I am (obviously) out of warranty and the manufacturer doesn't want to help me repair it. The refrigerator is shown below: http://www.nextag.com/Summit-FC07-Chest-Freezer-558278468/reviews-html Would appreciate if someone could please help me figure out what could be wrong with it. I don't mind opening it up to check what's wrong, but I just need to know what to look for and what to test. Thanks!
Where can I really get away for a "Me Week"? Where could I go to get away from everyone, So I can just do what I want. It should be secluded from all people most of the time, yet close enough to civilization to get some food, or rent a movie from a redbox for my portable player. Maybe find a wi fi hotspot somewhere, so I can check my stuff. I dont mind camping, and I cant really afford a motel or hotel for a week unless they did weeklys, so, Like A free or really cheap campground, or a livable sized boat docked in a harbor, I could rent cheap , An abandoned airport with a hangar, ( i could take my guitar and amp, then) somewhere where I wouldnt have to defend myself from , like, the hills have eyes clan, or something, too. Any ideas? where would you go to avoid Human interaction, and have isolation? Im good at hiding in plain sight, so even within a city would be ok, if the place was right. I just dont want to have to please anyone at all for a week, is the idea. I can cook and/ or live out of an icechest, too, so an isolated area is cool too. Long as I can get fresh ice sometimes, and refill my chest with food, if needed. I have a portable shower and lots of cool camping stuff too, So I can be comfortable anywhere, really. I could even set a tent up inside a building, or cave, or something, too. Help me be creative here. TM, I might just surprize you some day.
What is the optimum indoor humidity level to prevent condensation on windows but still not be too dry? Hi. I am currently living in a 5 year old end-unit townhouse in Saskatoon, SK, Canada. Currently it is about -15 degrees C outside. We leave our thermostat set at about 20 degrees C. I've been sick with a bad cold followed by a chest infection and felt like our house was really dry lately since we started using our furnace more. So we turned on a portable humidifier in our bedroom and it has a built-in humidity reading and when we turned it on it was about 28%. We did have condensation on the windows even then but my skin was so dry and so were my lips despite lots of water. We set the humidifier so it would be about 45% in the bedroom so that I could sleep at night. We now have condensation on all of the windows in our two story townhouse yet it still feels dry throughout the house. Also, we have problems with feeling lots of cold air in some parts of the house. The basement is the only area where I don't feel some drafts. The main floor is usually cold, and I think it is relate to drafts. The windows on that floor all feel really cold and almost feel like they are letting in outside air. Our front door is not properly sealed (there are gaps so big between the door and frame that we can see light from outside) yet our landlord tried to just use cheap weatherstripping to fix it. So we have lots of cold air coming in from the front door (also, our landlord apparently had issues with the lock freezing, though it doesn't help the dryer vent is right beside the front door. On the 2nd floor both of our windows in the master bedroom are super cold, but not the big window in the other bedroom (which doesn't really have much for condensation). We do have upgraded accordian blinds in our master along with heavy black curtains over the windows and we have had insane amounts of condensation and ice forming on the windows. We also have a problem with cold air coming in from the attic access in the closet. The closet is always quite cold. What would be the optimum humidity level in our house for now? We don't have a built-in humidifier in our house. I'm not too worried, we are only there for a few more weeks. Our landlord is selling the place though and not being able to see outside from the master bedroom due to ice is not a real selling feature. Today, we had ice covering the windows completely and yet humidity in the room is only about 32%
